In a new home or apartment, we all want to feel comfortable after a successful move. That is why you can secure your location even before you finish unpacking. Safeguarding your property protects you and your loved ones,  and helps deter others from falling victim to robbery, vandalism, or an accident waiting to happen at home.

How To Secure Your New Home

1. Warranties and Insurance

Doorbell cameras and home alarm system are prevention, but any unfortunate incident that could occur in your home is not avoided.

That's why you need warranties and insurance in your life. Insurance and home warranties from homeowners cover your home and its belongings from burglary, property crimes, natural catastrophes, and more.

Anyone who owns property must have insurance, period. On the other hand, warranties are voluntary. They will cover the cost of repairing appliances and systems, but they are often popular for having flaws.

2. Carbon Monoxide Installation

A carbon monoxide is deadly even it is odorless or colorless.  Your life can be saved by installing carbon monoxide detectors. We recommend getting some as soon as possible if your home does not have CO alarms in the kitchen and bedrooms.

You can use smoke-CO detector combinations mounted on the ceiling to replace your smoke alarms, or you can use plug-in CO alarms. You can also get portable detectors for carbon monoxide that you can take to your office or on holiday with you.

3. Purchase Fire Extinguishers

Unlike smoke detectors, your new apartment doesn't provide fire extinguishers. You're going to purchase one.

For the rooms that are most likely to have the risk of fire, get fire extinguishers. This is usually the kitchen and washing room. But if you also smoke in the bed or light a candle at night, you might want to keep extinguishers close to those areas as well.

4. Install Home Security System

A camera is enough sometimes. In other instances, having full home security (such as Vivint Alarm) suite makes more sense, particularly if you live in places that are susceptible to more violence.

By ensuring everybody's safety whether you're home or abroad, a home security system will take a serious burden off your mind.

5.  Proper Lightning

Thieves prefer to lurk in the dark, and it's hard for them to make a more risky attempt on your position with the right lighting.
